Competitive
If your athlete wants to continue developing their gymnastics skills after completing the Foundations Advanced training, they can opt to move across to one of our two competitive Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) programs, by going for either the fun, yet challenging Xcel Program with opportunity to participate in invitational meets and provincial championships or the high-calibre Development Program designed to help young gymnasts develop the strong skills they need to prepare for provincial, national and international competitions.
The Xcel and Development Programs are invitation-only, based on readiness and skill level. Participation in these programs is subject to on-going evaluation to make sure each athlete maintains the mental and physical abilities and skill sets that meet competitive standards. Participation in the competitive programs will also depend on attitude, personal progress and effort in all areas of training, as well as competitive performance.
Please use the Book Assessment option to register your child for a competitive gymnastics assessment in our self-serve customer portal. Alternatively, you can contact us at (403) 774-7322, or at info@kingymnastics.com.
At Kin Gymnastics we are proud to offer competitive Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) for those who want to strive for more. The competitive season begins in September for Xcel athletes and is a ten-month commitment. The competitive season begins in July for Development athletes and is a full year round commitment.

Pre-Competitive
The Pre-Competitive Program may be where it all begins for a select few talented young hot shots. These young gymnasts will practice twice per week in order to prepare for competitive gymnastics. Dedication and discipline is a must, but your gymnast will have a blast learning and developing.
Xcel Program
The Xcel Program is an exciting competitive gymnastics program with a focus on having fun. Xcel athletes train a minimum of five hours per week and will primarily compete in Alberta to keep the program affordable, yet challenging at the same time. The girls will learn and compete all four WAG events (bars, beam, vault and floor), but unlike the Development Program, the athletes' skill levels for all four events do not need to be equal (you can be further ahead on one event versus another). In addition, the competitive format is less regimented and more fun-based as far as competition goes than is the case in the Development Program.

Development Program
The Development Program is for gymnasts who strive to master the skill sets required for the highest levels of achievement in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. This Competitive Program focuses on the development of physical and mental strength of each athlete, in order to prepare and partake in competitive gymnastics that can take athletes from pre-competitive to provincial, national and even international competitive levels. As part of the Development Program, athletes learn how to challenge themselves within the supportive, positive coaching environment of a program that can go from six to more than 24 training hours per week. The program runs from level 1-10, with levels 1-5 being called the Compulsory Levels, whereas levels 6-10 are referred to as the Optional Levels (with Level 10 being equivalent to NCAA College Competitive Gymnastics).
