Kin Training Leotards & Kin Competition Leotards

Kin Gymnastics uses leotards custom-made by BELIEVE for both its Training Leotards and its Competition Leotards. Please use the below Size Guide chart to determine sizing for both the Kin Training Leotards (used during training by Kin's competitive gymnasts) and the Kin Competition Leotards used at meets/competitions.

The BELIEVE Leotards use a chest-circumference labelling system (e.g., Size 28", Size 32", Size 40") combined with standardized sizing tags ranging from Child sizes up to Adult Extra Large (A4XL). Unlike brands that use generic small/medium/large tags alone, their sizing is deeply tied to precise physical inches or centimeters.

When calculating a size, you should cross-reference chest, waist, and hip loops, but always prioritize the torso (girth) length first. If the torso measurement points to a larger size than the chest or waist, use the larger size to ensure the leotard does not pull down uncomfortably at the shoulders.

The 4 Key Measurements to Take:

  • Girth (The Most Important): Place the measuring tape at the highest point of one shoulder. Run it down the front of the body, through the crotch, and straight back up the back to the exact same starting point on the shoulder. This creates a full vertical loop.
  • Chest: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of her chest, keeping it level under her armpits and across her shoulder blades.
  • Waist: Wrap the tape around her natural waistline, which is the narrowest part of her torso (usually right around or slightly above her belly button).
  • Hips: Measure around the widest part of her buttocks with her feet together.

Do not pull too tight: The tape should lie flat and snug against the skin but shouldn't press into or indent her skin.

Stand tall: Ensure she stands straight with her feet together and arms relaxed by her sides while you measure.

When to size up: If her girth measurement falls right on the border between two sizes, size up to give her room to grow and a more comfortable practice fit. If her chest/waist match one size but her girth points to a larger size, always choose the size dictated by her girth so the leotard doesn't pull down painfully on her shoulders.

Kin Competition Jackets & Kin Competition Pants/Tights

Kin Gymnastics also uses competition jackets and pants/tights custom-made by BELIEVE. Please use the below Size Guide chart to determine sizing for the Kin Competition Jackets. Please contact Kin for sizing assistance with the Kin Competition Pants/Tights.

How to Measure for Your Kin Competition Jacket:

For the best fit, use a flexible measuring tape and measure in centimetres (cm).

  1. Length: Measure from the highest point of your shoulder, near the neck, straight down to where you’d like the jacket to end.
  2. Chest: Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, keeping it level and comfortably snug.
  3. Waist: Measure around your natural waistline, typically the narrowest part of your torso.
  4. Hip: Measure around the fullest part of your hips, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Important: The BELIEVE jacket size chart lists ½ Chest, ½ Waist, and ½ Hip measurements. These represent the width of the jacket measured flat, not your full body circumference.

Fit tip: Compare your measurements against the chart, allowing extra room for comfort and layering. If you’re between sizes, consider sizing up for a more relaxed fit.

GymGear Commemorative Giveaway Leotards

Please use the below Size Guide chart to determine sizing for any GymGear Commemorative Giveaway Leotards provided by various meets and competitions, such as Rock The Rockies competition and the Mountain Magic Invitational.

GymGear Canada gymnastics leotards and apparel use a child and teen/adult sizing scale that ranges from Child Small (6x/7) up to Teen Large, relying heavily on girth (torso length) as the primary fit factor rather than age or height alone.

How to Measure Torso (Girth):

  1. Stand tall with feet together while wearing a fitted leotard or base layer.
  2. Place the soft measuring tape at the top of one shoulder.
  3. Run the tape down the front of the body, through the crotch, and straight back up the back to meet the starting point on the same shoulder to form a full loop.
  4. Compare your total loop measurement to the specific product's recommended girth specs.
